CASE STUDY · GLOBAL HUMAN RIGHTS LEAGUE
Nine hundred and seventy political prisoners, documented in two languages.
THE PROBLEM
The record existed. Almost nobody could read it.
The League documents political persecution across the Americas. Its old site was Spanish-only, and its most important work, a case file on every political prisoner it had verified, lived as nearly a thousand card images: impossible to search, and closed to anyone who reads English.
For an organisation whose whole purpose is to make the world look, that is the wrong way round.
WHAT WE BUILT
A living archive, in English and Spanish, that the staff run themselves.
- 01Every card, read and rebuiltAn AI pipeline read 993 case cards and turned them into 970 real, searchable profiles, in both languages, with each photograph cropped from its card.
- 02One toggle, two languagesEvery page exists in English and Spanish. Switch anywhere and you stay exactly where you were.
- 03Nothing lost in the moveSixty-seven documents, ten State Department reports reformatted for reading, and thirteen public statements came across. The old site’s thirty-eight addresses all redirect, so no link anywhere breaks.
- 04An admin the staff run themselvesProfiles, news and statements are edited in a bilingual admin, without calling a developer.
- 05A way inVictims and advocates can report a case or offer help, and get a reply in their own language.
